i love loft ...

...but that chick was rude!

Thursday night I met Angie for a belated birthday dinner and trip to Ann Taylor Loft. Lindsay & Despi joined us at the store and we had some girly fun critiquing each other's choices. I really liked that black top, but Sister Dearest declared it made me look "saggy." Better than some of the comments Angie's received from her sister, but I was sad for myself and the shirt.

When it came time to make our purchases, the blond sales girl was extraordinarily unfriendly. She asked if we wanted our purchases in tissue paper or just in the bag ... um, honey? There's a reason that I'm shopping here instead of Target or WalMart. I don't get to come here often, and when I do, I want it to be special. Part of the joy of shopping at places like Loft is having your new clothing wrapped up in tissue paper, taking them home, peeling the sticker off, and smiling with joy. Apparently Eastern European chick wasn't in the mood to be facilitating any joyful purchases Thursday night. Angie & I were talking while Helga rang up my shirt, and it wasn't until after I had paid that I realized I had been over charged. I removed the shirt from the tissue paper that she so crappily wrapped it in, and showed her the tag "this says $9.99". "Yes, but that is wrong. Someone marked it wrong." "Um, that's not my fault."

And then I got The Icelandic Look of Death.

She rudely asked for my receipt and my ID, and attempted to correct the error. In the end, I definitely came out ahead, I think I only paid $6 for the shirt, but I wasn't about to try to correct her again, particularly after she refused to place the cash in my outstretched hand, instead setting on the counter right next to my hand!

Despite that, it was a very nice evening with excellent company. Here's hoping your next experience at Loft is not soured by Helga.

Ha! I'm laughing at your horrible experience with the Icelandic Look of Death--so funny!

Why do people have to be so rude? I try to give them the benefit of the doubt, like maybe their cat just died or something like that--when I'm feeling generous. But sometimes you get the feeling that some people are just innately rude. Too bad.
