What a great Christmas!
Mike & I worked on Christmas Eve Day, and Leah & Kaden spent the day with Papaw while Hannah & Cody were with Terry, our sitter. Papaw kept L&K with him to give me enough time to wrap our presents, and then we spent the evening at Papaw & Totsie's enjoying munchies and watching Elf. The kids each opened some new pajamas at Papaw & Totsie's, and then it was home & into bed. Surprisingly, all the kids went right to sleep. By the time Mike got back from a last minute errand, they were all fast asleep. A little of assembly time, and he & I made it to bed before 12:30! The kids must have been super tired from all the anticipation, because they slept until 8:00!!
As they raced out to open presents, with Leah in the lead, I had to stop Leah from tearing right into her gifts.
M: Leah, let's wait for Daddy so he can watch you open your presents.
L: But Daddy doesn't get out of bed for a long time!!!
The present unwrapping passed in a blur of wrapping paper and all of the kids were so happy with their presents. They played nicely for the rest of the afternoon and Mike cooked Christmas dinner. We went to Papaw & Totsie's Christmas evening to open MORE presents and celebrate Papaw's birthday.
Leah woke up Friday and asked me "Mommy, what kind of day is it today?" I must have had a very puzzled look on my face because she then said "I want it to still be Christmas!" That afternoon, I took Hannah to get her ears pierced (her Christmas present from us), and then we joined Zsa-Zsa, LuLu, CaCa, and Spud at Grandma & Grandpa's for dinner and even MORE presents.
Now the kids are in PA with Mike and have regaled me with tales of the gifts at Nunny's house.
Maybe I should call a realtor ... ;-)
